Pteroxanium kelloggi A moderately small (c.2.5-3mm) noticeably hairy barkfly. Uncommon in Britain and Ireland.
Pteroxanium kelloggi Pteroxanium kelloggi The species is strongly brachypterous (short winged). The wings are pointed, have few veins and a dark apex. The abdomen colour and pattern is very variable.
Pteroxanium kelloggi The wings are easily detached and some specimens give the appearance of being apterous (no wings). Another useful distinguishing character is the banded tibia.
Pteroxanium kelloggi The head has a distinctive pattern and the eyes are grey with a darker line running down the middle.
