Species account
A moderately large (4.5-5.5mm) barkfly with strongly marked wings. Widespread in Britain.
Forewings with dark bands and small spots on a colourless background. The main bands form a crude ‘IU’ shape.
Female
Subgenital plate (underside of apex of abdomen) has two large oval side lobes.

Male
Hypandrium (end of abdomen) with long appendage on the left hand side.
