Trichopsocus dalii

<<Back
Species account
Trichopsocus dalii A moderately small (c.2.5-3.5mm) whitish barkfly. Uncommon in Britain.
Trichopsocus dalii The forewing can appear superficially like an Ectopsocus species due to the dark marks around the edge of the wing (but Ectopsocus species do not have an areola postica cell). The areola postica often has an almost semi-circular shape (cf. T. clarus).
Trichopsocus dalii The Cu1 vein on the hind wing has a dark patch that extends either side of the vein. Very pale specimens are not uncommon and this dark mark may be absent.
  Trichopsocus dalii Female
The internal spermatheca opening is visible as a round brown circle near the apex of the abdomen (cf. T. clarus which does not have a visible opening).
Trichopsocus dalii Male
The internal phallosome is clearly visible (cf. T. clarus which has a phallosome that is only faintly visible and of a different shape).
