Species account
Lachesilla greeni A small (c.1-2mm) barkfly. Rare in England. Females can have long wings (macropterous) or tiny wings (micropterous). Males have short wings (brachypterous).
Lachesilla greeni Female (macropterous)
As with all Lachesilla species the forewings are completely hairless. The wing has no characteristic features (see also L. quercus). The abdomen does not have brown rings (cf. L. pedicularia)
Lachesilla greeni Female (micropterous)
Very small size helps to distinguish this species from other apterous (no wings) and micropterous (tiny wings) species.
Lachesilla greeni Female
The subgenital plate has a simple curved shape without lobes on the apex (see also L. pedicularia).
