Propsocus pulchripennis A medium small (c.3 mm) ‘picture-winged’ barkfly. Rare in England.
Propsocus pulchripennis The species is usually macropterous (long-winged) with a distinctive pattern. The areola postica cell sometimes is only slightly fused with the median vein (as in photograph).
Propsocus pulchripennis Brachypterous (short-winged) specimens are sometimes found.
Propsocus pulchripennis Female
The subgenital plate has a distinctive shape and includes a pale strip with long hairs.
Propsocus pulchripennis Male
Hypandrium has distinctive, prominent horns.
