Cuneopalpus cyanops

Species account
Cuneopalpus cyanops A moderately small (c.2.5-3mm), mainly orange, barkfly. Uncommon in Britain and Ireland. Usually associated with conifers (particularly pine).
Cuneopalpus cyanops The forewing is almost colourless and lacks any distinctive characters.
Cuneopalpus cyanops The abdomen has distinctive orange bands.
Cuneopalpus cyanops The black ommatidia of the eyes are each encircled with white giving an overall grey appearance. The last segment of the maxillary palp is truncated.
