<<Back
Species account
No photo of live animal A medium large (c.5-5.5mm) barkfly. Rare in Britain. Unusually for Mesopsocus species both males and females have long wings (macropterous).
Mesopsocus laticeps As with all Mesopsocus species the wings are glabrous (i.e. completely hairless). M. laticeps can be distinguished from other Mesopsocus species by having veins Rs and M fused.
Mesopsocus laticeps Not all specimens of M. laticeps have veins Rs and M conspicuously fused. Like other Mesopsocus species M. laticeps can have the four vein portions meeting, or almost meeting, at a point.
