(No picture of live animal yet) Medium sized (c. 3-4mm) brown barkfly. Widespread in Britain. Superficially looks similar to P. didymus and P. consobrinus.
Peripsocus phaeopterus No areola postica.  Forewings uniformly pale brown.

Subgenital plate (underside of abdomen) with the middle section between the two ‘arms’ less dark than the arms. The lobe at the apex of the plate widens very slightly at the end.
