The species is usually macropterous (long-winged) with a distinctive pattern. The areola postica cell sometimes is only slightly fused with the median vein (as in photograph). |

Brachypterous (short-winged) specimens are sometimes found. |

Female
The subgenital plate has a distinctive shape and includes a pale strip with long hairs. |

Male
Hypandrium has distinctive, prominent horns. |
