A moderately large (5-6mm) barkfly often with green abdomen. One of the commonest species in Britain and Ireland. |

Areola postica joined to median vein. Forewing without distinct markings. |

Vein Cu2 setose i.e. with short hairs (setae) along vein. (In contrast to S. stigmaticus that does not have setae). |
