	  Species account |

A moderately large (5-6mm) barkfly that often has a green abdomen. The species has not yet been recorded in Scotland or Ireland but is widespread in England and Wales. |

Areola postica joined to median vein. Forewing without markings except for prominent dark line along the edge of the pterostigma cell. |

Specimens have been found that do not have the dark line on the edge of the pterostigma cell. These can be distinguished from S. immaculatus by the conspicuous widening of the pterostigma and the faint vein section. |

Vein Cu2 glabrous i.e. with no short hairs (setae) along vein. (In contrast to S. immaculatus s.l. that does have setae). |
