A moderately small (c.2.5-3mm), mainly orange, barkfly. Uncommon in Britain and Ireland. Usually associated with conifers (particularly pine). |

The forewing is almost colourless and lacks any distinctive characters. |
 |
The abdomen has distinctive orange bands. |
 |
The black ommatidia of the eyes are each encircled with white giving an overall grey appearance. The last segment of the maxillary palp is truncated. |
